Conversant has a long standing reputation as a technology innovator. First, in the mid-1970s, our engineers made important discoveries that significantly improved the operation of DRAM semiconductor chips. As a longtime member of the Joint Electron Device Engineering Council (JEDEC), we have declared several internally developed patents relevant to FLASH and DRAM memory standards. Since then, we have continuously added value to our patent portfolios via innovation and patent filing. The following portfolios include patents developed by Conversant:
Conversant’s engineers work with several technical standards organizations and specifications. In the communications technology sector, we have experts in GSM, CDMA, UMTS and LTE cellular standards, Wifi, WiMax, and NFC; some having participated in 3GPP standard setting meetings in the past, and looking to actively contribute to future standard setting research and development. These experts are also involved in supporting and/or developing patents in the Networking Portfolio , WIFI Portfolio and the Conversant Wireless; the latter including many patents declared essential to 2G, 3G and 4G ETSI standards.
In addition, Conversant often partners with universities in order to jointly develop and test inventions. We have worked with several universities in Taiwan and Hong Kong, and have had discussions with other universities in Japan. We have also contributed to telecommunications standards via collaboration and funding of activities at universities and research institutions. Some of these resulting inventions and technological advances have been presented for incorporation in the 3GPP standards.
